Making the Dinosaur Coast Accessible for all
The Yorkshire Dinosaur Coast Project was
a huge success and the exciting new phase of the project, "Making
the Dinosaur Coast accessible for all" will build on this
success.
The following page explains some aspects of the
project. For more information please
see our contact page.
Making the Dinosaur Coast accessible for all is a regional project
that includes the Dinosaur Coast and the North York Moors National
Park.
The aim of the project is to increase intellectual
access to the natural heritage of the area, particularly its outstanding
geology.
The following aims guide the project:
Encourage access for all
Promote lifelong learning
Conserve the natural heritage of the region
Develop a sustainable product
Generate economic benefits
These aims will be delivered through the following
objectives:
 |
To deliver a range of quality
activities and experiences which explore relevant themes
with audiences that do not have ready access to the
region's natural heritage; |
 |
To provide opportunities for
people who already have an interest to develop it further
by building the capacity of existing organisations; |
 |
To raise awareness of conservation
issues and achieve good practice in organisations and individuals whose
activities have a direct impact on the coast; |
 |
To develop the natural resource
(sites and collections) which underpins the project. |
The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and is managed
by a steering group of Scarborough Museums & Gallery (Scarborough
Borough Council), Whitby Museum (Whitby Literary and Philosophical
Society), North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Museums Council
and English Nature.
